Terms of Service

These terms explain the visible permissions users give when they upload files, the rules for using free online PDF tools, and the limits that keep OpenPDFKit reliable.

Your rights matter

Only upload files you own or are authorized to process.

Security tools need consent

Unlocking or modifying protected files requires explicit authorization.

Free access

Current public tools are free and supported by clearly-labeled sponsored messages.

Abuse is blocked

Malware, illegal content, harassment, and rights violations are not allowed.

Agreement To These Terms

  • By using OpenPDFKit, creating an account, or processing a file, you agree to these Terms and the Privacy Policy.
  • If you use the service for an organization, you confirm that you are allowed to accept these Terms for that organization.
  • If you do not agree, do not upload files or use the processing tools.

Upload And Processing Permission

  • You grant OpenPDFKit a limited permission to receive, temporarily store, validate, process, and deliver uploaded files only for the tool and options you selected.
  • You keep ownership of your files. OpenPDFKit does not claim ownership of uploaded documents or generated results.
  • You are responsible for confirming that you have the legal right to upload, convert, edit, unlock, watermark, compress, or otherwise modify each file.

Acceptable Use

  • Do not use OpenPDFKit to violate copyright, privacy, contract, court order, workplace policy, or other rights.
  • Do not upload malware, exploit files, illegal content, abusive material, or files intended to disrupt the service.
  • Do not bypass rate limits, reverse engineer private APIs, scrape at abusive volume, or interfere with other users.

Free Tools, Limits, And Ads

  • OpenPDFKit's public PDF tools are free right now. Guest users have smaller file, batch, and retention limits than accounts.
  • Sponsored messages may appear before opening a tool or before download. They should be labeled and should not interrupt the active workspace.
  • Future paid features may offer higher limits, no ads, API access, history, and team controls.

Accounts And Security

  • You are responsible for keeping account credentials secure and for activity under your account.
  • We may suspend or restrict accounts that create security risks, violate these Terms, or abuse free processing capacity.
  • Passwords and sensitive tool options should be handled carefully. Avoid uploading files that you are not permitted to process online.

Availability And Changes

  • The service is provided with reasonable operational safeguards, but availability, processing speed, and output quality may vary by file.
  • We may update tools, limits, policies, or these Terms as the product evolves. Material changes should be reflected on this page.
  • Some tools are technical helpers, not legal, accounting, compliance, or document-authenticity advice.

Before every upload

Tool pages now ask for an explicit confirmation that the user has file rights and accepts the Terms and Privacy Policy before processing starts.
